Being one of the most handsome trios on Messy Weekend Records, Strulgattu & Meierkord are famous for their melancholic, cinematic soundscapes inspired by the rural lifestyle around Lake Siljan. The band is an ever-evolving mood-making affair, open to reinterpretation, blending extraterrestrial and cosmic sounds with earthy, organic ones.
Debauchery, controversies, band members dropping in and out - it may sound like a cliché. Still, Strulgattu & Meierkord do everything their own unique way and have managed to come out on the other side, stronger than ever. The band has gotten its act together after going through a rehabilitation program, and as the members have evolved personally, so has their music.
Strulgattu & Meierkord have adhered to the simplicity of where they first began, as blissfully hopeful friends jamming in a basement. It is those same qualities from which the most significant part of their success is derived.
Band members Matts Persson, Magnus Haglunds, and Henrik Meierkord all share a similar history of very early exposure to music. Together, they have more than 150 years of musical experience. Lately, the group has gained significant visibility as their never-ending tour continues, a trip that started in Stockholm, Sweden, on March 17, 2018, and has now brought them further into the heart of Europe.
Catch them if you can.
