Karl Leander’s debut album “Deep Slot” is a concept album that contains eight
songs about love, loss, and longing. Although the subject has been explored to
death within popular music, Karl communicates these themes in his own
peculiar way, painting a lyrical landscape that conveys a rather unique mix of
strong emotions and clever observations. And when I say lyrical landscape, it is
also meant literally. The nature, the seasons, the flowers, and the birds are always
present in his lyrics as an approach to handle and express complicated feelings.
What more could you ask for when the songs are delivered by someone gifted
with a golden voice and a master of his instrument, the acoustic guitar, as well?
