This album is about the four seasons and the weather, a popular topic for small talk with strangers, and also a subject of scientific observation in meteorology. When does the spring start? Is this really summer time? Is it autumn now? The album title “Ankomstkarta” (Arrival Map) refers to a map the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) uses to define when different seasons arrive in Sweden, and the four songs are named after blog posts discussing this topic. The seasons are something we experience with our senses, and we also associate them with sounds. This is something we’ve tried to create here. Lately, this issue has become disquieting. It has transformed from a convenient way to get in touch with people to something that also concerns an existential dimension of our common future. This dark feature also comes through in the songs featured here.

Tracks:

A1 Vårtecken (5:27 min)
A2 Typisk svensk sommar (6:58 min)
B1 Höstens normala ankomst (7:31min)
B2 Vinterobservationer (11:25 min)

Mixing: Magnus Haglunds
Mastering: Henrik Gennert/Fristaden

FORMAT: 12’’ 33RPM

MESS008 Emanuel Tägil - Knock Away

Releasedate: October 21, 2021

magnus haglunds

Tracks:

A1 Knock Away
A2 Carnival
A3 Lanterns
A4 My Friend and I

B1 Poor Guy
B2 Devilstorm
B3 Papercut
B4 There was an Animal

MESS007 Karl Leander - Deep Slot

Releasedate: October 3, 2019

magnus haglunds

Karl Leander’s debut album “Deep Slot” is a concept album that contains eight
songs about love, loss, and longing. However, another distinctive feature is the mixture of biblical motifs and the everyday life the painters saw (we’re talking about rural Sweden in the 18th and 19th centuries here). From this outlook on life, Jerusalem becomes the provincial capital of Dalarna, Falun. The biblical prophets are looking into the future, sitting on a mountain farm in rural Sweden. This peculiar confusion of imagination and reality has inspired the group Strulgattu, which blends extraterrestrial and cosmic sounds with earthy and organic ones.

In Strulgattu’s interpretation of the play, the dark backdrop is also highlighted: the witch trials in Sweden that began and ended in the band’s home county, Dalarna, about 250 years ago.

TRACKS:

A1 Prolog
A2 Tinget
A3 Profeternas fäbod
A4 Herdarnas äng
B1 Salomos gästabud
B2 Den rike mannen
B3 Herrens gårdar
B4 Epilog
